INSTALLING MODIFICATIONS (MODING)
Often a certain piece of equipment can be substantially improved
by making modifications to the original unit.
We do modifications if complete documentation of such is available
and you have specified what you want done. In most instances, you
will be required to furnish all parts as well as the documentation
needed to do the work. If not, labor to do these tasks are charged
at our standard labor rate.
REMOVE MODIFICATIONS (DEMODING)
The
market value of popular collector equipment increases if non-factory
modifications are removed and the equipment is restored to original
configuration. Feasibility depends on the "reversibly" of the equipment's
modifications. If holes are drilled into the front panel of a Collins 75S-1, for
example, the modification can be reversed by completely replacing the front
panel and any changed components, but may not be worth the high cost.
We will evaluate you equipment for potential "moding" or "demoding," after it arrives at our site.
When your equipment arrives, it is unpacked and carefully inspected for any damage it may have sustained prior to arrival at our shop. If undamaged, the unit will be powered up to determine if it is serviceable.
If your equipment arrives in unserviceable condition, you will be contacted to determine if you want the equipment evaluated and a status and repair recommendations report provided to you.
After our inspection, you will receive an estimate for the work needed. If you decide to proceed with the recommended work, it will be scheduled and you will be given an estimate of when the equipment will be shipped back to you.
If issues are discovered as the equipment is being serviced, i.e. weak tubes or a bad crystal, you will be contacted with our recommendations for additional servicing. If you agree, the work will be done and the moding or demoding will be completed.
