REFURBISHMENT SERVICES

As you might have already guessed, the cost is directly related to the amount of work that needs to be done, the cost of supplies, replacement parts, and shipping charges.

We can provide you an estimate to do the work on your equipment, once I have received enough information to ascertain the equipment’s true condition. To determine this will require some work on your part. We will need some pictures and some history of the equipment. You are the only source for this information.

Pictures

Provide the following pictures of EACH piece of equipment to be refurbished:

  • Front panel
  • Back panel
  • Top of cabinet
  • Bottom of cabinet
  • Left side of cabinet
  • Right side of cabinet
  • Top of equipment chassis with cabinet or covers removed
  • Bottom of equipment chassis with cabinet or covers removed

It will be more convenient for you to use a digital camera for this purpose. Once you have done the photography, you can email the pictures. Here are some photography guidelines:

  • Be sure that your picture resolution is as high a possible, so details will show up.
  • Be sure to use adequate lighting, so important details are visible.
  • Be sure the pictures are in focus; use a tripod if needed.
  • Get close enough to the equipment so it "fills" the picture.
  • You are encouraged to use compression conventions on your pictures (ZIP, etc.) to reduce file size for emailing.

If you do not have a digital camera, use a 35mm film camera and mail the pictures to

Al Link, K4ICL
139 Turner Circle
Greenville SC 29609

(If you want to avoid all of the photography, just send the equipment, using the our suggested packing and shipping procedures.)

History

List any known problems or issues with the equipment.

  • Is performance up to specifications? If not, do you know why not?
  • Is there any damage to the equipment? Is it shown in your pictures?
  • Do you know of any parts that have failed or are missing?
  • Have any modifications been done to it? If so, please describe.
  • Have any extra non-factory holes been drilled or made in the unit?
  • From what you know about the equipment, what repairs are needed to bring it up to factory specifications right now?

Preliminary Estimate:

We will get back to you with an estimated cost to do what we perceive as work needing to be done. If you decide to proceed, you will need to ship the equipment, using the packing procedures provided.

Approval Estimate

Upon receipt of your equipment, we will do a detailed hands-on appraisal of the equipment and provide you, in writing, a final estimate for doing the work. Of course, no work will be initiated until you have received the final estimate and have approved having the work done.
